Can you believe it! A family favourite made healthy!!
School holidays need snacks so here is the best you will find :)
Nutritional yeast is full of vitamin B, protein, calcium, iron and potassium along with being fat free and full of fibre. Cant ask for more and the taste is amazing. A cheesy, nutty flavour that sings with popcorn. Try it...you will never go back.
The kids will love the taste and you will know they are nourishing their bodies. Perfect!!
½ cup popcorn kernels
¼ cup nutritional yeast
Make the popcorn...I use a cheap popcorn machine but there are microwave bowls too. Here are the instructions if you are using a pot.
(Heat some oil in a large pot over medium heat. After the oil is hot, add the popcorn kernels and shake the pot to gently toss the kernels until they are all coated with oil. Put the lid slightly ajar to allow the steam to escape. Watch them closely so they don't burn and take off the heat when the popping slows down.)
When all the kernels have popped, put into a bowl and drizzle with olive oil. I just add small amounts and toss the popcorn until it is coated. You might not need any oil if you have made it in a pot as they will already be coated.
Sprinkle the nutritional yeast over the popcorn and again toss to coat. Just superb!!! I don’t need salt as the yeast is very savoury, but season to taste if needed.
